It has been presented this summer on the E3, it has been confirmed a few days ago at 2015’s Playstation experience. There is a lot of hype around it. We are talking about VR technology. Sony is putting most of its energies on this innovation, aiming to revive a market which lately has struggled a bit.
It represents the answer by Sony of some trends arosen over the past few years. Talking about contents, videogames have more and more become immersive, offering players 360° experiences. It is natural that Sony aims to occupy the empty space of “immersive videogaming technologies”.
However, what does not convince us, it is the very quality of the games Sony claims to release. It seems that these game lack some narrativity, focusing on action and immediate fun, despite the huge narrative possibility the technology offers.
Maybe, as it happened for Xbox’s Kinect, it is too early for these innovations. We need to wait a bit longer to enjoy games with a plot which is as good as the technology.
